POWErPOWEr is a performance based on highvoltage electromagnetic perturbations conceived of by Alexandre Burton and Julien Roy of Artificiel. Using an audio-modulated Tesla coil as a live instrument, electrical arcs are generated and transformed in an ongoing, realtime audiovisual process that renders electricity as a subtle yet intense material. POWEr is a commission for the 10th edition of MUTEK in Montreal. This project has been supported by the Canada Arts Council and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec. It was nominated for Berlin's Transmediale Award and Sao Paulo's File Prix Lux in 2010. |
