ARTIST STATEMENTAs one who transgresses boundaries of race, gender and sexuality, I have always fallen between the cracks. Once I fell into that place, even grew comfortable with that space, I became invisible and the darkness gave way to nothingness. But then, returning like flickers of light, the dim glow of Saturday morning cartoons brought life to these inner cosmos as I rebuilt the universe by memory. Tears of compassion filled the oceans as the ghosts of animated frames sailed those seas, buoyed by the winds of the subwoofer’s fanfare. Gods of fighting games, entangled like baroque paintings, share drinks of 150 pokemon blended into an ambrosiac slurry. Bodhisattvas darken the sky like a plague of Valkyries, their Mecha glistening in the dim sun. A Cultural Revolution is under way, a terrifying new frontier that stands to very much destroy all tradition. This monochromatic world is my Pure Land, and so my hand is guided to rebuild that Land in our own world with paper, light, and sound. In the words of Amitābha Buddha: “Solely by making you say the Nien-Fo in abundance, I can make bits of rubble change to gold”. LINKS! LINKS! LINKS! www.pdaprojects.com PDA PROJECTS
