The Carleton Place Gallery is pleased to be showcasing a new guest artist exhibition every three weeks beginning on Saturday, March 15. Our first guest exhibit is by hookk Creative Crochet.
Teri Bell and Christine Wynnyk are a sister duo of textile artisans who are inspired by colour, texture and form. Their pieces are each unique and handcrafted with natural yarn fibres, leather and delightful findings.
'Our goal is to re-imagine the enduring craft of crochet in unusual and delightful ways.
We have always had a passion for the creative and have tried our hands at many activities including sewing, photography and painting. Our love of crochet was passed on to us from our mother and grandmother and we feel that textile art has given us the freedom to truly express our authentic selves.'
Their brand 'hookk' was officially launched in 2022 and Teri and Christine have been exhibiting at textile and artisan shows in the Ottawa Valley for the past 3 years. Featured as the 'Artist of the Month' in the local newspaper The Humm in July of 2024 and in October 2024, they began to sell a curated collection of pieces at Strévé Design shop in Perth. Their work has been found at the Merrickville Artists' Guild, Wall Candy. 'We are proud to be small town residents of Carleton Place and Perth and are active in our communities.’
