Leisa Rich’s artistic style is usually distinguished by its vibrant hues, innovative fusion of traditional fiber methods with modern technology, and fearless exploration of both material and concept.

In her upcoming solo exhibition, (almost) Colour Less, Rich ventures into a realm of subtle tranquility, departing from her usual palette. Utilizing handwoven heirloom linens, monochromatic embroidery, intricately laser-engraved wood, sewn hybrid forms, 3D printed sculptures, AI applications, and hand-dyed crackled fabrics, she crafts an environment of peaceful contemplation. The exhibit features installations, suspended sculptures, varied wall pieces, and more, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in her captivating world. It’s worth the scenic drive to the Thousand Islands!


About the artist:

Leisa Rich is a renowned experimental artist who transforms the common and alternative in unique ways, predominantly using fibre processes and engaging materials and techniques. Leisa’s creative journey began with a long-term childhood hospital stay and subsequent deafness; the resulting reliance on her other senses gave her clues to comprehend the world, and informs her art making.

Rich holds MFA, BFA and BEd Art degrees. She has exhibited and is featured in notable museums, galleries, books and interviews. Leisa published a children's book in 2015 and a series of How-To art books in
2019. Rich has taught art for 48 years. Her work is in the permanent collections of Delta Airlines Inc., Hilton Hotels, Emory Healthcare, The Dallas Museum of Art, and in private homes. She is a recipient of a Distinguished Fellowship from Fulton County Arts Council, Georgia. Rich moved back to her home country, Canada in 2020.
