Please join us in The Sanctuary at La Fab Centre Culturel, on Sunday November 23 rd for the
vernissage of Light Refraction Tapestries by Thoma Ewen, and a Sacred Circle Dance
community event led by circle dance facilitator, theatre artist and celebrant Jen Boyes-
Manceau.
Light Refraction Tapestries is an intuitive exploration of light and energy flow patterns. Woven in pastel
tones, the radiant flowing patterns and harmonious pastel colours inspire calm and well-being. Several
of these tapestries grace the walls of meditation rooms, transmitting the energy of peace. The complete
series of 10 tapestries was exhibited in: Angeles Arts Centre, University of Baltimore, Baltimore,
Maryland, USA 1995; Museo Ixchel, Guatemala City, Guatemala 1996; Museo de Arte Moderno,
Merida, Venezuela 1997; Two Rivers Gallery, Prince George, BC 2000; and Mississippi Valley Textile
Museum, Almonte, ON 2003.
Selected tapestries from the series were exhibited in Design by Commission, Harbourfront, Toronto ON
1990; Hors Serie, Galerie Montcalm, Gatineau, QC 1997; and in Le Tissage et le Temps in Galerie
Montcalm, Gatineau, QC 2025. The 10 th tapestry in the series, “Bonding” is in the permanent collection
of Global Affairs Canada in the Canadian Embassy in Guatemala City.
“My work is a life-long love of the natural environment. It is an intuitive visual exploration of energy flow
patterns on and beyond the planet. Light is an important element and source of personal inspiration. I
try to communicate a sense of harmony and movement in the universe.”
Thoma Ewen has been designing and weaving tapestries from her studio at Moon Rain Centre in the
Gatineau Hills for over 50 years. She has exhibited and directed community arts projects nationally and
internationally. She is inspired by ancient indigenous weaving wisdom that illustrates how weaving
transmits the energy of Peace.
As part of the Vernissage on Sunday, November 23 rd there will be a Sacred Circle Dance
community participation event, led by theatre artist, circle dance facilitator and celebrant Jen
Boyes-Manceau.
All are welcome to participate as Jen offers a dance experience that invites everyone to
embody and respond to the light in the tapestries.
No experience necessary.
