Figuratively Speaking, a Figurative Journey by Janis Miller Hall

Figuratively Speaking, a Figurative Journey by Janis Miller Hall

When: April 26- May 16, Vernissage April 27, 2-4 pm
Where: Carleton Place Gallery, 210 Bridge St, Carleton Place

This exhibit showcases a collection of figurative artwork inspired by the diverse individuals the artist has encountered. Each piece serves as a tribute to the unique stories, cultures, and emotions that these people carry, captured through vivid portrayals of faces, expressions and gestures.
The works in this collection explore the universal human experience while celebrating the distinctiveness of each encounter. From vibrant street markets to quiet moments in rural landscapes, the figures in these paintings reveal layers of humanity - hope, struggle, joy, and resilience - that transcend borders.
With oil paint, pastels and mixed media, rich colour palettes, and intricate details, the artist brings to life not just the physical likeness of those met along the way, but the essence of their spirits. Whether it’s a weathered face etched with the passage of time or the gleaming eyes of youth, every portrait offers a glimpse into a world of stories that often go untold, reminding us of the connections that bind us all.
