WALL SPACE GALLERY is proud to present two solo exhibitions; Alex Chowaniec’s “A Ritual of Flowers” and Dominique Normand’s “EXODUS: The dawn of new beginnings”.

Alex Chowaniec (New York/Ottawa) – Alex Chowaniec's A Ritual of Flowers hosts a series of impasto still-life paintings chronicling the rituals of daily life within motherhood; celebrating monthly milestones, adaptation and the creation of space for daily gratitude. Her painted bouquets and curio cabinets become vessels for what is fleeting. After the birth of her daughter, Chowaniec began gathering flowers every month on the anniversary of her birth as a celebration of her good health; a small gesture in marking her immense gratitude for her life and continued well-being.

Dominique Normand (Ecuador/Quebec) – Through large-scale paintings that bridge the realms of abstraction and figuration, “EXODUS: The dawn of new beginnings” brings together Dominique Normand's years of exploring her own Metis roots with life changes spurred by a recent move to Ecuador. These events prompted Normand to turn to the 'sacred feminine' and integrate into her practice influences from Indigenous peoples of South America and the spirits of Ecuador’s Sierra Mountains to grapple with the upheaval of her new surroundings and tides of change.

We look forward to welcoming you to the opening reception on Saturday, Oct 26 at 3 – 5 pm. Alex Chowaniec will be in attendance and giving an artist talk at 3:30 pm.
