Job Summary
**Location: On-site, National Gallery of Canada, 380, Sussex Drive, Ottawa

Under the direction of the Director, Facilities Planning and Management, the Construction Coordinator will provide construction coordination and inspection support services for Facilities Planning & Management Project Officers related to the implementation of facilities-related projects and capital projects. The incumbent will also perform other related duties.


Requirements
• Successful completion of a 3-year diploma in architectural technology or an acceptable combination of education, experience and training;
• 2 years experience in construction inspection or the implementation of capital project construction work, preferably in a museum-type environment;
• Knowledge of architectural and engineering design, building systems, commissioning processes and procedures, and an ability to read and interpret plans, specifications and contract documents for inspection purposes;
• In-depth knowledge of the Canadian Labour Code and its regulations, and national and provincial building codes, fire and electrical safety codes and other regulations pertaining to building operations and construction;
• Knowledge of construction safety, WHMIS, Confined spaces, and lift equipment and fall arrest;
• Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, powerpoint, MS Project)
• Experience preparing reports, inspection reports, deficiency lists;
• Experience supervising the work of external service providers;
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communications skills;
• Excellent customer service skills;
• Ability to establish priorities, manage multiple tasks, and work well under pressure;
• Ability to sit/walk/stand for long periods, climb ladders, lift and move objects/materials up to 20kg, as well to move two and three person lifts for investigations and inspections;
• Ability to work independently and as a team member.
