Art-image - Nouvelle exposition / New exhibition

Art-image is pleased to invite you to its new exhibition, Thresholds, on September 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. Discover how Thresholds explores queer intimacy and the consequences of finding it. Consisting of mixed media, installation, sculpture, and textiles, the exhibition brings together the work of Sam Loewen, Christos Pantieras, and Carl Stewart. The three Ottawa-based artists create work at the threshold of identification and recognition. Within this conceptual framework, queerness is not an identity or an action but rather an attraction to limits. The artists are not interested in questions of visibility and inclusion but rather that which remains unseeable, unsayable, and unknowable. Thresholds motions toward forms of pleasure, gestures of intimacy, and ways of living in the spaces in between legibility and abstraction.

Christos Pantieras gratefully acknowledges the financial support of the Ontario Arts Council and the City of Ottawa.

Carl Stewart gratefully acknowledges the financial support of the Canada Council for the Arts, the Fiber Art Network and the Ontario Arts Council.

The opening will take place in the presence of the artists on Thursday, September 12 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Wine and beer will be offered free of charge.

Seuils / Thresholds is presented until October 27, 2024.

Art-image is located inside the Maison de la culture de Gatineau at 855, boulevard de la Gappe in Gatineau. There is free parking at the rear of the building. The place is also accessible by bus with STO lines 63/67/71/73/75/87.
