MICHAËLLE SERGILE | RASANBLAJ

MICHAËLLE SERGILE | RASANBLAJ
March 24 - October 1, 2023

L'Imagier invites you to the opening night of Rasanblaj by artist Michaëlle Sergile, curated by Joséphine Denis.

Rasanblaj is an exhibition that questions the various historical leaders of Haiti, what they represented and still represent, who was and was not included in the official historical narratives. The artist, who emigrated to Canada at a very young age, reflects on these different discourses encountered while researching her country, based on extensive readings of archival documents, family stories and discussions with other Haitians. Rasanblaj only offers more questions about Haiti's leadership struggles, providing different perspectives depending on the geographic space in which one grows up.
