Watching the Street (Ottawa)

In this work a webcam overlooking an Ottawa streetscape captured one image per minute for 24 hours, on the 23rd of October, 2010. Slices from all 1440 images are composited into visual timelines, revealing patterns of change and activity on the street - in the words of Greg Smith, this is an "urban viewfinder." Watching the Street (Ottawa) is a newly localised version of Watching the Street (Navigator), which used images from a Canberra streetfront. It was first published in Vague Terrain 13.
