Artist-in-Residence program at York University

Sensorium, in partnership with Connected Minds: Neural and Machine
Systems for a Healthy, Just Society, invites applications for the
Connected Minds 1-year Artist-in-Residence program at York University
(Toronto), commencing Fall 2026. Applications are due Friday, June 12,
2026, at 4:00 PM EST.

The Connected Minds Artist-in-Residence program is designed to support
artist-researchers who use their creative work to explore the impacts
of emerging technologies on diverse communities, deepen understandings
of artistic approaches to the study of emerging technologies on
researchers from across other disciplines and to raise the
international awareness of the innovative and community-engaged
research undertaken through the Connected Minds program.

This opportunity is open to artists working in any medium. The
successful applicant will have a demonstrable track record in
research-based creative practice, including public presentations of
their work, and at least two years of experience training or mentoring
emerging artists. This opportunity is not open to current York or
Queen’s University students or faculty.

The Artist-in-Residence will receive:

Stipend – $60,000 + benefits
Research, Materials, Community Engagement Budget – $8,500
Shared research space and assistance
Access to York University Libraries
Curatorial support for exhibition
Photo and video documentation of their exhibition
