Call for Artists: SKETCH

SAW invites artists and creatives in all disciplines to take part in a special expanded edition of its much-loved fundraising event SKETCH, returning on Thursday, December 4, 2025. Spanning both floors of the centre, this year’s event will feature a two-day preview, a silent auction, an art sale, live performances and a selection of small plates and cocktails by some of the region’s leading chefs and mixologists. This special edition of SKETCH is generously supported by art collector Bill Staubi.

We invite emerging and established visual and craft artists, photographers, designers and architects to contribute an original or editioned work to the art sale. Sketches, studies and doodles are encouraged. Artists are asked to donate pieces priced between $20 and $100. A selection of these works may be included in the silent auction.

All proceeds will support SAW and the Nordic Lab, helping fund residency and educational programs. Launched in 2021, the Nordic Lab is a research and production space for artists from the circumpolar world, fostering intercultural and intergenerational collaboration and exchange. Its residency program has hosted artists in Ottawa at the National Capital Commission’s historic Rochon Residence, including Lori Blondeau, Ruth Cuthand, Rebecca Belmore and Lido Pimienta, among many others.

Donated artworks may be dropped off at the SAW office (Tuesday–Saturday, 11AM–6PM) located at 67 Nicholas Street, Ottawa, or delivered to:

All participating artists will be acknowledged on event invitations and press materials and will receive two complimentary tickets to the event.
