On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from noon to 1:30 p.m., for a lunchtime embroidery with the Ottawa Queerly Sewcial Circle.

Join us on your lunch hour and learn how to embroider your own felt patch (all materials provided). We will learn tips and tricks for handling tools and materials, several hand embroidery stitches, and begin stitching your own patches. Finished patches can be added to clothes, bags, or anywhere you’d like to add a handmade embellishment.

As part of the public programming for the Canada Council Art Bank’s Resistant Fibres exhibition, Heather, @moon_maid_embroidery, will be present to share embroidery techniques, answer questions, and engage in conversation around her artistic practice.

Enjoy viewing artworks from the Art Bank collection and meeting other arts enthusiasts. Participants are welcome to drop in and connect with others—no need to make anything unless they wish to.

Artist bio:
Heather, the instructor, has been embroidering for more than 15 years. She is a hand embroidery artist specializing in modern use of traditional and 17th-century needlework techniques.
With a background in conservation biology, her primary inspiration is the natural world, but contemporary embroidery easily incorporates social and pop culture influences.

Joignez-vous à nous pendant votre pause du dîner et apprenez comment broder votre propre écusson de feutre (tout le matériel sera fourni). Nous apprendrons des astuces pour manipuler les outils et le matériel, effectuer plusieurs points de broderie et commencer à confectionner nos écussons. Une fois terminés, les écussons peuvent être utilisés pour embellir des vêtements, des sacs ou d’autres articles de tissu.

Biographie de l’artiste?:
L’instructrice, Heather, fait de la broderie depuis plus de 15?ans. Elle est une artiste brodeuse se spécialisant dans l’usage moderne de techniques du 17e?siècle. Ayant étudié en biologie de conservation, elle s’inspire principalement du monde naturel, même si la broderie contemporaine se prête bien aux influences sociales et de la culture populaire.
