Artist-in-Residence Programme — Applications Now Open

The University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Science, in partnership with the Department of Visual Arts (Faculty of Arts), has launched a new Artist-in-Residence Programme designed to bring artists and scientists into deep, collaborative research. This cross-faculty initiative supports artists exploring scientific ideas through creative practice while offering access to laboratory environments, Visual Arts studios, and mentorship from leading researchers.

Residencies run 2–8 weeks between March 2026 and March 2027 and include:

$5,000 stipend
CARFAC-rate talk/workshop fee and exhibition royalties
Office space + access to Visual Arts studios
Technical and installation support
One residency will prioritise proposals connected to climate change or biodiversity solutions. Artists from equity-deserving communities are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants must partner with a full-time professor in the Faculty of Science; the programme team (Science + Visual Arts) can help facilitate connections.
