OTRE DESTIN DANS LE PARFUM DES HERBES III

VOTRE DESTIN DANS LE PARFUM DES HERBES III
Centre d’exposition l’Imagier, 9 RUE FRONT
Opening Friday October 10th, starting at 5pm
October 10th to December 21st, 2025

Created by multidisciplinary artist Mégane Voghell, Votre destination dans le parfum des herbes III is a multi-chapter video performance—an experimental archival corpus of the Quebec territory, a subverted video game, and a reflection on how we interact with the living world. While the first chapter took place in the boreal forest of the Côte-Nord - on Innu territory Nitassinan - and the second in the sublime landscapes of Matapédia in Gaspésie, at the heart of the mi’kmaq territory of Gespe’gewa’gi, this third chapter follows Voghell as she explores the Carbide Willson ruins in Gatineau Park.
Building upon the existing methodological framework, such being a video adopting the codes of a video game, Votre destin is filmed in first-person point of view (POV), in which a character wanders through the forest—the artist deepens her exploration of contemporary systems of mediation, valorisation, and exploitation of the living through digital means. However, this final instalment introduces several disruptive elements that blur the experience: a shadow, tourists, cameras. The fantasy of conquest takes root in the heart of this wandering, as each attempts to capture nature in their own way. Faced with the ruins, silent before the screen, how can one not be seduced by the lure of fiction?

The launch of the screening at l’Imagier will be accompanied by a discussion-performance between artist Mégane Voghell and curator Joséphine Rivard, accessible via Twitch.
